Sustainable beauty: Tips for practicing responsible consumption in the beauty industry

How to be careful what you use and how to use good products

a

With each new year, the issue of climate change is increasingly in focus in all areas, including the beauty industry. Sustainable, eco-conscious routines have become one of the main trends in the beauty world – and since this approach conserves precious resources and fights climate change, everyone wants to contribute in some way.

a
When it comes to beauty, it is most often helped by using products that are more sustainable and environmentally friendly, that is, all those products that have as little as possible a negative impact on the environment, animals and nature in general. The increasing awareness of the need to use as many eco-friendly products as possible in the beauty industry means that we are slowly moving in the right direction.

a
However, with so many different products and options on the market, it is sometimes difficult to find products that meet your needs and are suitable for the environment. As well as changing the way we use certain products, if you're reading this, you probably want to change your routine so that it's good for you but also for the environment.

a
That's why we decided to make it easier and help you and give you some valuable tips on how to change, or rather, adjust your routine so that you think about the well-being of the environment and animals but also to still take care of your own satisfaction as much as possible.

 a

Do you want to use sustainable products, but it seems impossible?

a

The benefits of using eco-friendly cosmetics are almost endless – more eco-friendly products are better for the planet, are gentler on the skin and hair, the packaging is easier to recycle or can be replenished, and they are often the product of smaller brands that dedicate their entire business to environmental awareness.

a

Sometimes it seems like an impossible mission to find such products. The biggest reason for this is that many products are still in single-use plastic packaging, and numerous chemicals certainly do not help preserve the planet.

a

But there is a solution, and it's straightforward to change your routine to one that's environmentally friendly yet good for your skin routine, makeup, hair care, and the like. Here are some valuable examples below.

 a

Buy products with packaging that can be reused or recycled

 a

Packaging significantly affects the amount of waste caused by the beauty routine. To make your routine as sustainable as possible, think about starting to use products in, for example, glass packaging or one that can be used multiple times and recycled.

a

Also, if it's not about makeup but her skin and face, you can buy products with no or minimal packaging, such as hard soaps and shampoos. Likewise, you can buy products whose packaging has already been recycled and repeat the process after you stop using the product.

 a

Do not leave the water running unless necessary

 a

Although it may not seem like it, the amount of water you use significantly impacts the planet. So, when washing your face or during any other part of your routine that involves water, only let it run if necessary.

a

a

We recommend spraying your face with water and applying the cleanser with wet fingers before turning off the faucet. After that, massage the selected product on the critical areas and wash everything off with water. It may seem more straightforward to leave the water running all that time, but that is unacceptable for the environment and your wallet.

aa

Stock up on ecological beauty tools

aa

It may not seem like it, but beauty tools are also a great way to influence sustainability and be more environmentally conscious. When you buy your brushes, sponges and other editing tools, we recommend buying products whose manufacturers care about you and the planet.

a

a

Although "more expensive" tools may not seem so good, we will try to dissuade you and prove you wrong. Brands that try to produce environmentally friendly, vegan, or cruelty-free products are often much better quality than synthetic and plastic ones.

a

In addition to having a better impact on the environment, such products will undoubtedly positively affect your skin due to their better quality - which is extremely important if you intend to use these tools daily in your routine. That's why, instead of various applicators you have to throw away after only a few uses, find ones you can use more than once (most often, it's enough to wash and disinfect them), and for the benefit of absolutely everyone!

aa

Do not use disposable tissues and pads to remove makeup

aa

It has happened to all of us at least once that after a day of work or going out, we just wanted to take a wet or disposable tissue for removing makeup and throw everything in the trash. Although most agree it is more straightforward, it may be better for you and the environment.

a
There are several ways you can change your habits. It all starts with stopping the use of disposable tissues and pads for removing makeup and cleaning your skin. A good alternative is reusable pads, usually cotton or terry cloth. After using the pad, throw it in the wash, and it will be as good as new - and ready for further use!

a
Also, when it comes to cleaning and skin care, we advise you to use different gels and balms to clean your face and never wipes you will have to throw away after use. Look for those products that are gentle on the skin and do not strip their natural oils. Such products are ideal for all those looking for a more realistic but equally functional option.

a

a

But in addition to being gentler on the skin, balms and gels are more environmentally sustainable than wipes, which should be reason enough to give them a chance. Facial wipes often come in non-recyclable or biodegradable packaging, and balms and gels often come in reusable or recyclable packaging.

a
When you buy routine products, pay attention to the ingredients in them.
Most people don't think twice about the ingredients in their skincare products. However, paying attention to what's in your products is essential to make your routine more sustainable. Many conventional skin care products contain unsustainable ingredients such as palm oil, plastic microbeads and synthetic fragrances. These ingredients can harm the environment and are often unnecessary for the product to work effectively.

a
On the other hand, many sustainable ingredients can be used in natural skin care products. Vegetable oils and butter, such as coconut and shea butter, are excellent alternatives to conventional oils. Natural exfoliants such as jojoba beads or ground coffee beans are gentle on the environment and the skin. When buying organic skin care products, take a moment to read the ingredients label. If you see some unsustainable elements, consider finding a more sustainable alternative.

a

Finally: Support brands that care about the ecological sustainability of the planet

a

For several reasons, buying products from brands that care about environmental sustainability is good. First, these brands are (obviously) environmentally conscious and use sustainable practices in their production processes, which automatically have a lower negative impact on the environment.

a

a

In addition, such brands often support other brands with the same goal but also various charitable purposes related to environmental protection or sustainability, such as, for example, recycling plastic bottles. In addition, buying products from these brands supports the growth of a sustainable industry in the beauty world, which is crucial if we want to create any long-term change. By keeping these "green" brands, you can directly influence the world to become a healthier and better place.
